Always a blast, even at the super old, super crappy Webster Hall in New York City, everyone’s favorite hardcore band Every Time I Die stormed the rickety halls to make some folks spin, jump, dance, and crawl all over one another…

Notes on photographing Every Time I Die:

As they always are, shooting Every Time I Die was quite a challenge.  Hell, even when I shot them multiple times in bright summer light during Warped Tour this year, they were a challenge.

The light the band used was very purple, yellow, blue, and green – essentially the colors that are splattered all over the album cover for their latest album, From Parts Unknown.  It certainly looked unique, I just wish the barrier between the stage was a little larger (moving and finding a good spot was more or less not an option while shooting.)

Luckily, the security guards didn’t realize that the band had finished their 3rd song, and the photographers were still in the pit still come the 4th song.  Ironically, this short window granted me some of the cleanest and sharpest shots, as there was some direct lighting pointed right at Jordan Buckly and Ryan Leger than made getting good shots of them easier than the entirety of the first 3 songs of the band’s set.

Equipment:

Nikon D3 w/ 24-70 2.8
Nikon D600 w/ 80-200 2.8
